Splash
Helge Sverre
A desktop app for running several coding agents at once, each session in its project folder or its own git worktree. It drives agents over the Agent Client Protocol.12
splash.computerSplash and ORG-2 are open-source desktop apps for running coding agents. ORG-2, built on Rust and Tauri, has its own agent harness, launches 20+ agent CLIs, records every session for replay and offers optional team sync through ORG-2 Cloud. Splash, a Rust app on the Elyra framework, connects to every agent over the Agent Client Protocol.

| Agents | Ships launch commands for 20 agents, including Claude Code, Codex, Copilot, Gemini, Goose, OpenCode1920 | Built-in Rust agents plus 20+ CLIs; the docs list eight it installs, signs in and supervises, such as Claude Code and Codex321 |
| How it runs agents | Agent Client Protocol over stdio, natively or through a pinned adapter for the vendor’s CLI192 | Built-in agents call model APIs in-process; supervised CLIs stream JSON, use ACP or codex app-server; others run in a terminal pane21222324 |
| Agent sign-in Who pays for the model | You install and sign in to each agent’s CLI yourself; Splash runs it with that login20 | Your keys for 15 providers, local models (Ollama, LM Studio) or existing CLI subscriptions; ORG-2 resells no inference25 |
| Account required | Splash has no accounts; splash-server asks for a token it keeps in its data folder267 | Not for local use or self-hosted Supabase sync; an ORG-2 account, signed in by email link, unlocks ORG-2 Cloud and marketplace features5276 |
| Permission requests When an agent asks before it acts | Yes: Shown in the transcript and answered with the 1–9 keys; pending ones wait in Needs attention28 | Partly: Its own agents ask with Allow, Deny or Always Allow prompts that expire after five minutes; CLI agents launch pre-approved by default2129 |
| Model and mode pickers | Yes: Model, mode and effort pickers when the agent offers them28 | Yes: A per-session model and effort picker; Build, Plan and Ask modes remove tools from its own agents and become prompt guidance for CLIs2130 |
| MCP servers | Partly: Read-only list of MCP servers from Claude Code, Codex, Pi, Pool and Glue config files2831 | Yes: For its own agents: stdio, SSE or streamable HTTP servers per user or repo, importable from Cursor, Claude and VS Code configs32 |

| What needs you | Yes: One queue for permission requests, connection failures and finished turns, kept across restarts2835 | Yes: Turns waiting on you show as awaiting_user and in a Blocking board column; OS notifications and the Dock badge start off303637 |
| Agents handing off work One agent launching or messaging another | No: Each session is one agent in one folder; sessions don’t hand work to each other128 | Yes: An ADE Manager meta-agent starts, watches and coordinates other sessions; Agent Teams put agents under a coordinator3821 |
| Scheduled tasks Agents that start without a prompt from you | No: No scheduler; an agent starts when you create, continue or prompt a session39 | Yes: Routines start sessions or work items on a UTC cron or one-time schedule while the app is running37 |
| Built-in browser | No: No built-in browser; the workbench holds git changes, a file tree, diff and file tabs, and a terminal28 | Yes: A native WebKit browser; Design Mode sends a picked element’s page context to the agent. Agents drive a browser through a sidecar downloaded in Settings3405 |
| Review and shipping | ||
| Review changes | Yes: Latest response, failed tools and every changed file as a diff, with a box to send feedback28 | Yes: Unified or split diffs per turn, session or all uncommitted changes; Keep and Undo All act on edit snapshots, not hunks4030 |

ORG-2 runs its own agents inside its Rust engine, calling model APIs directly. It drives eight CLIs headless, reading streaming JSON, ACP (Copilot, Kiro, OpenCode) or codex app-server, and runs other CLIs interactively in a terminal pane, tracked through hooks. Splash connects to every agent over the Agent Client Protocol, natively or through an adapter.2122232448192
Both run agents on your computer by default. ORG-2 Cloud syncs and replays sessions but does not run them, and the app’s Cloud running location is disabled; a beta network of daemons can place a session on a teammate’s idle machine. Splash runs agents locally, or under splash-server on a machine you reach from a browser over SSH.3061117
ORG-2’s desktop app is free, AGPL-3.0-or-later and needs no account for local use; contributors sign a CLA. ORG-2 Cloud adds team sync: free for three members and one repo, Pro at $8 and Team at $15 per seat a month, Enterprise through sales. Splash is free, MIT-licensed and has no accounts.43135615121426
ORG-2 is built as a record of agent work: replay with scrubbing, Agent Blame tying files and commits to the sessions behind them, checkpoint rewind, work items that agents turn into pull requests, scheduled routines and a coordinating meta-agent. Splash centers on the conversation: a Needs attention queue, a review screen, transcript search and GitHub triage across repositories.49303337382843
ORG-2 ships builds for macOS on Apple silicon, Windows x64 and Linux x64 (AppImage and .deb), though two docs pages still say no Linux build is published; its v2.0.10 updater manifest covers all three. Splash builds for macOS 14+ on Apple silicon and Intel, Windows 11 x64, Ubuntu 24.04 x64 and a headless server, and does not update itself.59181317471646
